Boc-L-Amino Acids

Boc-Amino Acid Structure(9045 bytes) Typically solid phase peptide synthesis referred to as Merrifield synthesis involves the Boc/Benzyl temporary Na and side-chain protecting group strategy and requires HF for final deprotection and cleavage from the resin.  The Boc (tert-butyloxycarbonyl) group is an acid labile amino-protecting group that is usually removed with TFA (trifluoroacetic acid)/DCM (dichloromethane) solutions during synthesis and with final HF cleavage.  The Boc group is stable to bases and nucleophiles.
